Eskom unbundling at an advanced stage - Gordhan
Updated | By Gaopalelwe Phalaetsile
Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan has told Parliament the unbundling of Eskom into three separate entities is at an advanced stage.
He was answering questions in the National Assembly on Tuesday.
"Eskom has achieved most of the 2019/2020 objectives for divisionalisation as set out in the roadmap for Eskom," he told MPs.

"The operating model has been adopted as the basis of how Eskom will manage its business and, this will allow the various businesses to function independently. Business models for the divisions and corporate functions are at an advanced stage," said Gordhan
The legal separation of the entities is likely to happen in 2021, in spite of opposition by labour unions over an apparent lack of consultation.
According to the plan, the three independent divisions would be responsible for electricity generation, transmission, and distribution.
