Eskom’s appeal as the cold front hits
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Eskom is calling on customers to cut back on their
electricity usage this weekend in anticipation of a spike in demand caused by a
massive cold front.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued various warnings relating to hard rain, possible flooding, high seas and disruptive snow fall over the Western Cape and parts of the Eastern Cape and the Northern Cape.
The mercury is also dropping to maximums in the mid-teens.
On Saturday morning, Eskom issued a statement, asking the public to switch off non-essential appliances like geysers and swimming pool pumps to alleviate pressure on the national grid.
Eskom added that the country could be heading for higher stages of loadshedding if pressure on the grid persists.
According to the current loadshedding schedule, Stage 4 will be implemented from Saturday afternoon.
