Eswatini police boss dies at OR Tambo Airport

The Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA) has confirmed the death of the Eswatini Police Commissioner, William Wayne Dlamini who died at the O R Tambo International Airport.

Dlamini suffered a severe health complication after disembarking from a trip abroad on Saturday.


According to Swaziland News Dlamini was returning from Angola, after attending the International Police Organization (INTERPOL).


He collapsed around 4 am while waiting for a flight to the Kingdom of eSwatini.


ACSA spokesperson Ntokozo Mazibuko says emergency services attended to Dlamini offering medical assistance including CPR for nearly an hour without success.


"Dlamini was declared deceased earlier this morning. All the relevant authorities were notified and arrived immediately at the scene of the incident."


"ACSA does not have details of Dlamini’s medical condition, and we are therefore not able to comment any further on the matter."


"We advise that questions be directed to the relevant authorities. ACSA Management expresses their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Dlamini." she added
