'Everyone must be presumed innocent until proven guilty' - ANC after Bongo arrest

Bongo remains a Member of Parliament (MP) and chair of the Home Affairs Committee in Parliament.

The African National Congress (ANC) top structures have responded to the arrest and court appearance of former State Security Minister, Bongani Bongo on charges of corruption by saying the law must take its course.
"Everyone must be presumed innocent until proven guilty," said ANC spokesperson, Pule Mabe on Friday.
Bongo was arrested on Thursday in connection with an incident that happened during the inquiry into Eskom where it is alleged he offered money to the evidence leader.
Bongo remains a Member of Parliament (MP) and chair of the Home Affairs Committee in Parliament.

"In keeping with its commitment to the rule of law and respect for our criminal justice system, the ANC's view is that the law enforcement must be given the room to do their work without fear or prejudice." says Mabe.
