A 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly strangling his ex-girlfriend in the Johannesburg CBD, police said on Wednesday.
The man handed himself to police on Tuesday after they found his 26-year-old ex-girlfriend dead in Cavendish flats on the corner of Jeppe and Kruis streets on Saturday, Warrant Officer Xoli Mbele said. Police suspected she was strangled because her neck was bruised and one of her eyes was swollen.
The man apparently said he separated from his ex-girlfriend two weeks ago but they were still living together and sharing a bed. The motive for the murder was unknown and police were minvestigating, Mbele said. The man would appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court soon.
