Expelled Matie Theuns du Toit applies to private Afrikaans university
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
Former Stellenbosch University student Theuns du Toit has applied to study at a private Afrikaans university in Centurion.

Du Toit, a first-year law student, was expelled from the university in the Western Cape after being found guilty of contravening the disciplinary code of students.
He made international headlines after he was captured on video urinating on the desk and belongings of student Babalo Ndwayana.
He was found guilty following a disciplinary hearing which concluded that Du Toit had acted in a manner that is racist.
Ndwayana also laid a criminal charge against Du Toit.

Du Toit has now applied to Akademia – a private Afrikaans university located in Centurion.
“It was confirmed that Mr. Du Toit indeed applied and that a proper process would be followed that would include interviews,” read a statement by the institution released to Jacaranda FM News.
Akademia remains tight-lipped on whether the expulsion of Du Toit from Stellenbosch University would have any bearing on his application – citing legislation prohibiting the sharing of personal information without consent.

Akademia added: “Du Toit indeed applied and that a proper process would be followed that would include interviews. There will also be discussions with Mr. Du Toit about possible conditions. The outcome of the process will determine his admission.”
No decision is yet to be made whether Du Toit will be granted admission to study at Akademia as “applications for undergraduate studies at the institution in 2023 close on 31 January 2023.”
