The Roberts and Mboya families issued a statement confirming the news on Thursday.

The TV presenter reportedly died after collapsing on Wednesday night.

While the cause of her death remains the centre of speculation, sources are believed to have confirmed to several media publications that Roberts collapsed while on the set of a new show.

Her family has not confirmed the intimate details of the incident.

“It is with profound regret and sadness that we confirm the untimely passing of our dear daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

“We humbly request that you respect our need for privacy, as we go through this difficult period of grieving and healing.

“We ask that you keep us in your prayers,” the statement adds.

The family adds Roberts will be remembered as an “all-round media personality who was always the life of any gathering”.

Last year, Roberts made headlines when political party African Transformation Movement (ATM) confirmed the well-known personality as its Ward 65 councillor candidate for Tshwane ahead of the 1 November local government elections.

Days later, the party reneged on the announcement due to “unforeseen and confidential circumstances”.

Scores of adorning supporters, friends and media colleagues have taken to social media to express their deep shock at Roberts’ passing.
