Farm attack suspects escape from moving police vehicle
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
Police in Limpopo have launched a manhunt for a group of men after they escaped through the roof of a police vehicle.
The manhunt was launched after two awaiting-trail prisoners managed to escape from a police vehicle.
The suspects cut open the roof of a moving truck before jumping out and fleeing on foot.
Police spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe says police were transporting the men from Lephalale to Polokwane.
“Along the way, near Steilloop in the Marken Road, the duo cut open the roof of a moving police truck, jumped out and vanished in the nearby bushes.”
Ngoepe says the escapees are both Zimbabwean and have been identified as Petrus Moyo and Witness Simango.
It’s still unclear how the men managed to cut open the roof and why they weren’t handcuffed.
One of the man was later rearrested and is expected to appear in court soon.
The escapes are linked to the murder of a doctor in a farm attack outside Lephalale in 2017.
