Farmer killed in Delmas house robbery

Mpumalanga police are investigating a case of murder after a farmer was brutally murdered on Dwarsfontein farm in Delmas.
The man was attacked on Tuesday.
The 80-year-old has been identified as Hennie van der Walt.
It is understood that farm workers, who reported for duty on Tuesday, called the police when they could not gain entry to the farmhouse.
Police later found Van der Walt’s body in the bedroom with multiple stab wounds in the stomach.
Police spokesperson Selvy Mohlala says they are investigating a case of murder and robbery.
"The house appears to have been ransacked, CCTV PVR was damaged and the safe opened. Police also discovered spent cartridges as well as some live ammunition in the house as well as in the vegetable garden.
“Bloodstained footprints were also noticed and a safe from the house was allegedly stolen but later found opened in the nearby bushes a few meters from the house."
No arrests have been made.
