Fatal shooting at TUT
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
Gauteng police have confirmed the killing of a person at the Soshanguve Campus of the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) on Thursday evening.
Police have launched a probe into the circumstances leading to the killing.
Its unclear at this stage who fired the shot, when violence erupted during the elections of a new Student Representative Council in the north of Pretoria.
Neither Police nor the TUT have been able to confirm whether it was a student that was killed.
Several other people were also injured during the chaos.
Its alleged that the motive behind the violence are claims that the elections were rigged.
"So far, we are going to investigate the circumstances of the incident as we are not clear what actually transpired," says police spokesperson, Kay Makhubele.
