Fight breaks out amid teacher's strike
The Department of Eduction has expressed concern after a fight broke out between learners at Eldorado Secondary School amid a strike by teachers.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
The department's Steve Mabona says the incident took place while the learners were unsupervised in a classroom at the school.
The department says despite the strike by teachers it still wants tough action to be taken against the learners.
"The department calls on the School Governing Body and Principal to act without favour against the learners depicted fighting on a video", says Mabona.
The short clip shows two learners engaged in a full-blown fistfight in a classroom.
Blood is also seen oozing from the head of one of the learners.
"The investigation will assist us with that information, we don't want to pronounce who is portrayed in the video footage because we need the SGB to assist us in that investigation," says Mabona. "We are going to monitor it very closely so that after the identification of those implicated, the necessary action will be taken and only after that can we be able to say."
