Fire erupts in Kya Sands
A fire broke out at the Kya Sands informal settlement in Johannesburg on Thursday, paramedics said.
Netcare 911 spokeswoman Santi Steinmann said several people were alleged to have been injured and shacks in the area were on fire.
She was unable to confirm the number of people injured or the extent of the damage caused by the fire, but said all services, including paramedics and the fire department, were on the scene.
The cause of the fire was unknown.
