"The fire broke out on Friday [in] the dental clinic situated on the ground floor next to the main entrance of the hospital which is far from [the] admission wards. Fortunately, no patient was affected by the fire which was successfully extinguished by the hospital employees. The evacuation lasted for about an hour," said spokesman Steve Mabona.

Preliminary investigations found that the fire was caused by an electrical fault. The hospital would no longer provide dental services until further notice.

"Three rooms were affected, and as such all dental equipment, materials, and consumables were destroyed. Structural damage assessment has commenced," Mabona said.
