The University of Cape Town (UCT) has extinguished a fire that was reported at a vacant field on its upper campus on Wednesday.

Spokesperson, Elijah Moholola says there was no danger to human life and the fire was far from any buildings or infrastructure.
"The fire was reported around 23:30 (on 5 January) by the patrolling UCT Campus Protection Services (CPS) officers and the standard operating procedure was followed. The fire services department was on site within 15 minutes and the fire was declared fully doused by 01:45 on Thursday morning," he said
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
Last year a massive fire ripped through the upper campus causing devastating damage.
On Sunday, Parliament (situated in Cape town) was wracked by a devastating fire.
On Monday, a fire also broke out at the Belville Magistrate’s court in Cape Town.
The Department of Justice's Chrispin Phiri says the small fire was started by a cigarette butt and no injuries or damages were caused.
