[WATCH] First batch of Johnson & Johnson vaccine arrives in South Africa
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The first shipment of Johnson & Johnson’s Covid-19 vaccine safely landed at OR Tambo International Airport on Tuesday night.
Approximately 80 000 doses will be administered to the country’s frontline workers over the next few weeks starting on Wednesday or Thursday.
The Johnson & Johnson inoculations have replaced the 1.2 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines, which has been found to be ineffective against the mild to moderate symptoms of the variant first identified in South Africa.
