Five crocodiles on the loose in flood-ravaged KZN
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Ezemvelo KwaZulu-Natal Wildlife has confirmed that five crocodiles are on the loose after being swept away by floods in Tongaat, north of Durban.
According to Ezemvelo spokesperson Musa Mntambo a total of 12 crocodiles from Crocodile Creek Farm escaped, but seven have since been recaptured.
"We suspect that the five crocodiles might have walked into the Tugela River, which is less than one kilometre where their farm is, and people should not be worried. If the residents spot them, they should contact the Ezemvelo Wildlife or the police."
At least 60 people have been killed in the floods and dozens more are reported missing.
