Five dead after massive shack blaze in Plastic View
Five people were killed and multiple others injured on Sunday, after shack fires erupted at the Plastic View informal settlement in Pretoria.
Tshwane Emergency Services spokesperson Johan Peiterse says disaster management is on scene to assist the community.
"Disaster management, SAPS and Metro Police are on scene to liaise with community to assist them with alternative accommodation as shacks have been destroyed" he says
Peiterse says the cause of the fire is unknown.
"It is always difficult to determine the cause of shack fires. There are many things that can cause a blaze in winter like paraffin stoves, we will be investigating the cause" he says.
