Five people were killed in an accident in Shatale, Bushbuckridge, on Sunday morning, the Mpumalanga community safety department said.

"Five people were killed after their vehicle overturned in Shatale, in the Bushbuckridge area, on the R40," spokesman Joseph Mabuza said.
"The occupants were trapped inside the car, and the car caught fire."
The cause of the accident, around 3am, was being investigated.
Community safety MEC Vusi Shongwe sent his condolences to the victims' families. He called on road users in the province to exercise caution.
