Five killed in KZN bus crash

Five people have been killed and
scores others injured in a bus crash in KwaZulu-Natal.

The victims, including a child, were travelling on a road between Malmoth and Empangeni in northern KZN when the vehicle crashed on Saturday.
The bus was travelling to a church in Empangeni when it overturned.
Thirty-three people were injured, one of them critically.
Sixty passengers were travelling in the bus at the time of the crash.

"The bus driver was negotiating with the bend when he lost control of the bus,” says provincial transport spokesperson Kwanele Ncalane, adding that the injured passengers were taken to various hospitals around the province.
KwaZulu-Natal Transport MEC Mxolisi Kaunda is set to visit the scene of the crash on Sunday and will also attend the prayer session at the church the passengers were travelling to.
Ncalane says they are in the process of establishing the exact cause of the crash.
"And also make sure that we are able to work closely with the families during this difficult time."
