Five killed in SAPS plane crash

Five people have been killed in a light aircraft crash at Rand Airport in Germiston, east of Johannesburg.
One other person is in critical condition after a South African Police Service fixed-wing aircraft crashed on Tuesday afternoon.
In a statement, national police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe confirmed the fatalities.
“On board were five passengers and a pilot. All five passengers have sadly lost their lives. The pilot is critically injured and has been taken to a nearby hospital for further medical care.”
Mathe said authorities were on scene to establish the cause of the accident, and that the details of the deceased and injured pilot will be released once their next of kin have been informed.
