Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Communications has finalised a list of five candidates to be considered to serve on the interim board of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC).

This comes after the final report by the ad hoc committee into the SABC board's fitness to hold office, which was adopted in the National Assembly yesterday, recommended that the board be dissolved.
The recommended names are:
- Mr Krish Naidoo
- Ms Febe Potgieter-Gqubule
- Ms Khanyisile Kweyama
- Mr Mathata Tsedu
- Mr John Matisonn
"We are facing a tough job together with the interim board to ensure full implementation of all the recommendations," says committee chairperson Humphrey Maxegwana.
Maxegwana says the names will be tabled in the National Assembly in the form of a report for final adoption.
The ad hoc committee's report not only recommended that the board be dissolved, it also found Communications Minister Faith Muthambi to be incompetent in carrying out her duties and that she interfered in some of the board's decision making processes.
