Five metre python found on south coast farm relocated
A five-metre long African rock python has been successfully relocated after it was found on a farm in the Port Edward area.
Sarel van der Merwe says he received a frantic call from a farmer who saw the snake on his property at Banners Rest on Sunday.
The snake catcher says the reptile went for the farmer's dog, a young Jack Russel.
He says they caught the snake in a river and put it in a bag before taking it to a remote area to be released.
"We took him upriver far into the nature reserve area where we released him in the mountains. I release my catches in [natural reserves] away from residents," he says.
