Flats on fire in Pretoria CBD
Tshwane Emergency Services on Tuesday morning confirmed that a fire at a block of flats in Arcadia was under control.
According to emergency services' Johan Pieterse two flats on the fifth floor of a block of flats in Troy street was on fire.
"Tshwane EMS are currently battling the blaze with Jorrisen and Leyds streets that have been closed," Pieterse said.
He added that the wind is not making their work easier a they are trying to stop the blaze from spreading to adjacent fires. "The fire has a huge spectator value with people that have started to gather in the area," he said.
Pieterse added that they will be on the scene for at least two hours and that the building has been evacuated.
"No injuries have been reported and we are doing our best to put out the fire as soon as possible," he said.
The cause of the fire will be investigated.
