Formal complaints to be laid against Mandela's doctor
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
The executor in the estate of former President Nelson Mandela are planning on laying a complaint with the South African National Defence Force against Dr Vejay Ramlakan.

The former Surgeon-General of the SANDF has caused a stir with a book he's written, which reveals private details of Mandela's final days in hospital.
Ramlakan led a team of medical professionals who treated Madiba.
Former Deputy Chief Justice, Dikgang Moseneke; human rights lawyer, Advocate George Bizos; and Judge Themba Sangoni released a statement late yesterday afternoon, saying the contents of the book are deeply regrettable, unfortunate and constitute unlawful disclosures.
They are now seeking legal opinion on the matter.

They will also approach the SANDF and the Health Professions Council of South Africa to lodge formal complaints against the Durban-born doctor.
Ramlakan claims to have received permission from a member of Mandela's family to write the book.
But the executors say permission was not sought from them nor from Mandela's widow, Graca Machel.
They say the book discloses private information about Mandela's health in a way that breaches doctor/patient confidentiality.
Yesterday, the publishers of the book pulled the book from the shelves, saying thy were doing so out of respect form Madiba.
