Former IEC head shortlisted for post with information regulator
Updated | By ANA
Former Electoral Commission of South Africa chairwoman Pansy Tlakula has been shortlisted for a position with the newly formed Information Regulator, Parliament said on Wednesday.
She is one of 10 candidates shortlisted by the portfolio committee on justice for five position at the regulator, which was established last year in terms of the Protection of Personal Information Act.
The others are Johannes Weapond, David Taylor, Advocate Lebogang Stroom, Lindelo Snail, Siyakhula Simelane, Thav Reddy, Francois Cronje, Shamila Singh and Tana Pistorius.
Tlakula left the electoral commission under a cloud in 2014 after more than a decade. Political parties demanded she go after an investigation by the Public Protector found that the procurement of the IEC’s offices in Centurion had been irregular.
