Former Mangaung manager's assets taken

A confiscation order was granted by the Bloemfontein Regional Court on Friday to attach assets of a former senior Mangaung municipality manager, the NPA said on Friday.

The court granted the unit an order to attach R230,000 worth of assets from Percy Nakedi, said Free State National Prosecuting Authority spokesman Phaladi Shuping.
Nakedi was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment after he was found guilty of fraud, corruption and money laundering this week.
Shuping said the conviction followed Nakedi's role in the procurement of tracking devices for municipal vehicles.
Instead of procuring the devices from a local supplier for a quarter of the price, Nakedi and others procured the items from companies based in Gauteng for more than R19 million.
Shuping said Nakedi was out on R60,000 bail pending his appeal to the Free State High Court.
