Former Mpumalanga police officer Skhumbuzo Mabunda will appear in the Mhala Magistrates Court in Mpumalanga next month after he allegedly attempted to steal a car.

The 39-year-old was granted R1000 bail on Monday.
Mpumalanga police’s Mtsholi Bhembe says the suspect and two accomplices attempted to push a car out of a garage but the alarm went off.
"The owner of the vehicle was reportedly woken up by the alarm that went off. At this point he noticed people pushing his vehicle out of the garage. He then reportedly fired a warning shot, and the suspects fled the scene, however at the time he had already recognised his former police official.”
The owner reported the incident to the police after the suspects fled the scene.
The police managed to track down their former colleague and arrested him on Sunday.
The search continues for his two accomplices.
