Police in Port Shepstone said on Thursday they have arrested two men, one of them a former police captain, for possession of unlicenced firearms, ammunition and a police uniform.

Police said the two men were found in Ibisi near Umzimkhulu with five unlicenced firearms, 67 rounds of ammunition, a magazine and the police uniform.
“One of the arrested suspects is a former police captain who was attached to the Stock Theft Unit. The suspects aged 54 and 56 years are expected to appear in Umzimkhulu Magistrates Court today, 14 January 2016 facing possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition charges.”
KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni said the firearms would be taken for ballistic tests to check if they had been used in any other crimes in the country.
