A former Proteas cricketer is expected to appear in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, for allegedly assaulting a 14-year-old Pinelands High pupil last week.
The accused claims the child was throwing stones at his car. He claims he stopped and picked up the child and drove to his school to report the incident.
The matter was reported to the police and assault charges were preferred against the former cricketer.
However, the cricketer from Pinelands has not been formally charged and so may not be named.
The incident, which led to the police investigation, allegedly happened on Wednesday outside the Pinelands High School.
Western Cape police confirmed that a 14-year-old boy had opened an assault case.
