Former Operation Dudula leader handed suspended sentence

The former leader of Operation Dudula, Nhlanhla ‘Lux’ Mohlauhi, has been handed two suspended sentenced by the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
Mohlauhi was arrested in 2022 after charges of housebreaking were laid against him after Operation Dudula members went to the home of Victor Ramerafe in Dobsonville in search of drugs, and ransacked the house.
National Prosecuting Authority's spokesperson in Gauteng, Phindi Mjonondwane, says both the sentences are wholly suspended on conditions that Mohlauli is not convicted of housebreaking, and of malicious injury to property during the period of suspension.
"The court added a further condition of him paying the complainant, Victor Ramarafe an amount of R9500 in cash, on or before 24 August 2023 at 13h00 for damages to his property.
"The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirms that the complainant was compensated and the proof of payment of the amount ordered by the court was presented in open court on 24 August,” said Mjonondwana.
