Four to appear in court on Monday for R400m drugs found in boat

Four suspects are expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Monday in connection with a R400m drug bust.

The court appearance comes after police arrested three more people linked to the discovery of 800kg of compressed pure cocaine in a boat on the N1 earlier this month.
One of the suspects, 39-year-old Niel Pieter van Zyl, was arrested when his bakkie was pulled over on the N1 in Centurion.
Spokesperson for the Hawks in Western Cape, Philani Kwalase, says the three suspects were escorted from Cape Town to Pretoria on Saturday.
"A trio suspects were escorted to Pretoria from Cape Town under heavy police guard yesterday afternoon and are expected to appear alongside another suspect on 21 June.
"The cocaine was reportedly destined for local and international markets, and it was allegedly organised by a drug syndicate operating in the country and allegedly stockpiling a large quantity of cocaine in Gauteng.
"The additional suspects were linked through further investigation into the drug consignment and a warrant of arrest was executed by the Western Cape Hawks."
