Four escapees re-arrested

Police in Mpumalanga have arrested four suspects who escaped from police custody at the weekend.

According to police spokesperson, Leonard Hlathi, five prisoners escaped from the holding cells at the Acornhoek police station. Four were re-arrested soon after escaping.
"We are still searching for one suspect but an operation led us to capture the four suspects and they will be appearing in court soon," Hlathi says.

They will appear in the Acornhoek and Bushbuckridge Magistrates' Courts soon, on charges related to their initial cases, as well as an additional charge of escaping from lawful custody.
"The community is hereby requested to further assist with information that may lead to the arrest of Tshireledzo Makhadzi who is still at large," Hlathi says.
Anyone with information is requested to contact their nearest police station.
