The suspects include two security guards, a truck driver, and a loader operator, and were nabbed on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson Selvy Mohlala says the suspects were allegedly involved in illicit activities during load shedding times.

"It is further said that when the power was out, they will organise and get the articulated trucks to load coal which is valued at about R400 000 per load then only pay R7 000 to their associates,” says Mohlala.

Three suspects were arrested on the scene while the fourth suspect was arrested at a house in Piet Retief.

The suspects, aged between 26 and 59, are expected to appear in Piet Retief Magistrate's Court on theft and corruption charges.
