Four nabbed in Mahikeng for trying to sell pangolin

The Hawks in North West have arrested four suspects after they allegedly attempted to sell a pangolin for R250 000.

The suspects were arrested at the Crossing Mall after they attempted to sell the pangolin on Friday.
The animal was found in the suspects’ vehicle.
Hawks spokesperson Tlangelani Rikhotso says the vehicle has been seized for further investigation, while the pangolin has been taken for safekeeping.

The suspects, aged between 33 and 59-years, are expected to appear in the Mmabatho Magistrate's Court on Monday.
They face charges for wildlife trafficking prohibited by the National Environmental Management Biodiversity Act.
