Police in the Western Cape are questioning four people in connection with the disappearance of Joslin Smith of Diazville in Saldanha Bay on the West Coast.
Smith has now been missing for two weeks and the search has been bolstered by a contingent from the local SA Navy, members from the City of Cape Town as well as local firefighters and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
Police also intensified their search in an identified area in Diazville, subdivided into zones as part of the coordination of the search.
The grade 1 pupil went missing while in the care of her mother’s boyfriend last month.
Police spokesperson Novela Potelwa says as the investigation progresses, arrests are expected.
"It is envisaged that as the investigation unfolds light will be shed as to her whereabouts or what happened to her. The four persons being interviewed by the team of investigators are two men and two women aged between 26 and 34.
"With the investigation gaining momentum, arrests are on the cards."
Over the weekend, blood-stained items were found during a search and have been sent to the Plattekloof forensic laboratory for analysis.
