France showing 'keen interest' in SA’s Covid-19 vaccine manufacturing - Pandor

International Relations and Cooperation Minister Naledi Pandor says France is keen to partner with South Africa in producing a local vaccine to fight Covid-19.

The minister made the remarks ahead of Wednesday's Summit for the Financing of African Economies in France.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has arrived at Elysee Palace in France on Tuesday ahead of the summit.
"The substance really about discussion with President Macron concerns the planned state visit to South Africa that he will undertake towards the end of May," said Pandor.
"As well as France's keen interest in establishing a partnership with South African vaccine producing institution to strengthen the capacity of South Africa to produce vaccines."
French President Emmanuel Macron is expected to host 30 African leaders on Wednesday in a bid to find ways of helping African economies to recover following the devastating effect of Covid-19 and the handling of the continent's debts.
