Free State ANCYL calls for the burning of the Ace Magashule book

The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in the Free State is planning to make a bonfire at a dumping site to burn the book by Pieter-Louis Myburgh, titled 'Gangster State'.

The book details alleged large scale corruption and state capture by ANC Secretary General, Ace Magashule, while he was Premier of the Free State for almost a decade.

The burning of the book is expected to take place at the Mangaung South Side dumping site on Monday, according to the ANCYL in the province.

Free State ANCYL Provincial Secretary, Reagan Booysen, says they are calling on everyone with the book, to join them.

"Those who do not have them, they should go and buy them and join us in burning that propaganda that is funded by Europe."

Booysen believes the book by Myburgh is funded by the 'White Monopoly Capital' to divide the country.

"It is propaganda that is trying to divide the ANC, what is written in that book is clearly lies."

Booysen has questioned the timing of the book, released as the country heads to the general national elections.

It follows a protest at the book launch at the Exclusive Books in Sandton City on Tuesday night.

Booysen says the youth league attended the launch on the invitation of the publisher.

"When they arrived there, they took it upon themselves to defend the gains of the democracy."

The governing party has, however, condemned the protest at the book launch and distanced itself from the call to burn the books.
