Free State game farm worker mauled to death by lion
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
A man has died after being attacked by a lioness at a game farm in Glen, outside Bloemfontein.
The employee was busy fixing the fence and installing a gate on Sunday when the attack happened.
The 43-year-old man died of multiple bite marks on his neck and body.
Police spokesperson Lorraine Earle says the lion was euthanised by the SPCA.
"The victim and his supervisor had just finished putting up a gate at one of the lion enclosures. It is alleged that the victim left his room and went straight to the enclosure.
"The supervisor screamed, notifying him that he must quickly get out as there was a lion in the enclosure, but it was too late.
"One of the four lions attacked him, and he lost his life. Glen police were summoned, and a case on inquest was opened for further investigation.”
