Friends ransacked my restaurant - Lucky Lekgwathi
Updated | By Karabo Tebele
Former Orlando Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi says his Kliptown restaurant was looted by people close to him.
Lekgwathi was part of the civil society meeting with Gauteng Premier David Makhura on Tuesday.
The former defender’s ‘Grootman’ restaurant, which only opened its doors in April, was ransacked during last week’s wave of looting in Gauteng.
"I left my place and when I arrived there, there was nothing inside the shop," says Lekgwathi.
"It was sad because some of them are our friends, people who know me."
Lekwathi pleaded with communities to report stolen goods.
"As parents, from now on whenever your child brings home something that is stolen, please make sure you report them to the police.
"It is not good as a parent to have something that is stolen in the house and as the premier said: We salute to the communities that protected their malls."
