Fuel price relief in June
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
Motorists can expect some relief at the pumps on Wednesday after the Department of Energy announced a drop in fuel prices for June.
The department announced on Monday that both grades of petrol will decrease by 71c per litre, while diesel will decrease by 80 and 84 cents per litre and illuminating paraffin by 43 and 58c per litre.
However, LP gas will increase by 75c per kilogram.
The department’s spokesperson Robert Maake says the increase in the price of LP gas is due to higher trade rates and high prices of butane.
“The reason for this decrease is mainly because of the lower prices of all petroleum products which were in line with all the lower oil prices during the period under review.
“However, the weaker rand took away over 50 cents from all the fuel price reductions.”
