Fugitive Rabbi Berland back in court
Updated | By Slindelo Masikane
The bail application for fugitive Rabbi Eliezer Berland is expected to continue in the Randburg Magistrates Court on Friday.
Yesterday the applicatiom was postponed due to bail arguments not being completed.
The state has submitted documents from Interpol giving reasons why the rabbi should be denied bail.
It argued Berland should be denied bail due to his status as a wanted man in Israel for sexual crimes and that he is a flight risk.
The Rabbi's lawyers argued he was not a flight risk, and that he was in the country to expand his teachings in Africa.
