The minister has come under fire after it emerged that, while travelling to Zimbabwe on official business, she gave a delegation of the African National Congress (ANC) a lift on an air force plane.

The ANC delegation visited the country to try and find solutions to its ongoing political and economic crises.

Ramaphosa subsequently docked the minister three-months salary and instructed it should be paid into the Solidarity Fund for Covid-19 relief.

He also ordered her to ensure that the ANC reimburses the state for the cost of the trip.

Ramaphosa's acting spokesperson Tyrone Seale says the release of the documents is proof of the president's commitment to transparency.

"While the minister was on an official trip, for which the President had given permission and for which she was entitled to use a SAAF aircraft, the president found that it was an error of judgment to use the plane to convey a political party delegation.”

The president also docked the minister three months' salary. "Her salary for the three months should be paid into the Solidarity Fund," said Ramaphosa's acting spokesperson Tyrone Seale on Sunday. "The president furthermore directed the minister to make sure that the ANC reimburses the state for the costs of the flight to Harare and to report to him once that has been done."
