[FULL SPEECH] Makhura determined to boost Gauteng economy

Gauteng Premier David Makhura says his provincial government remains determined to boost the local economy and create more jobs.

Makhura delivered his State of Province Address (Sopa) at the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University in Ga-Rankuwa on Tuesday.


"Our first and foremost economic goal is to grow the economy in order to massively increase the number of new jobs, while sustaining existing jobs in Gauteng. Our number one goal is to create jobs.


"We will achieve this by focusing on high growth sectors and new industries that have a greater potential to create new jobs," Makhura added.


He set out 10 high-growth sectors to help his cabinet meet the objective of renewing the province's economy, including tourism, agri-business and the energy sector.
