Gama was at the commission on Friday.

He said he couldn't comment on Norma Mgoma’s claims that she was informed by Gigaba that Gama would be reinstated at Transnet before the information was made public.

Gama also denied that he facilitated the employment of Gigaba's sister at Transnet.

Evidence leader Anton Myburgh: “She said Mr Gigaba told her he intended to speak to Mr. Gama to appoint his sister Ms Gugu Gigaba to Transnet, to the best of my knowledge, Ms Gugu Gigaba was appointed and remains in the employ of Transnet, do you have a comment on that?”

Gama: “I don't know anything about this.”

The commission’s chair, Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, asked if Gama knew who Gugu Gigaba is, he said he did not know her nor that she is employed by her.

Myburgh revealed emails showing an exchange between Malusi Gigaba and then Transnet COO, Mlamuli Buthelezi and CFO Ravi Nair, facilitating his sister's appointment.

Gama denied any knowledge of the exchange.

He also denied attending a Youth Event in 2015 hosted by the Jacob Zuma Foundation where Transnet made a R500 000 donation.

Gama admitted to approving and signing the donation, but said he was not at the event as claimed by Mngoma.

He said he was out of the country at the time and the event was attended by an acting CEO on his behalf but said he did not recall who the acting CEO was.
