'Gangster State' author faces defamation law suit

Journalist and author Pieter-Louis Myburgh has been slapped with a R10 million law suit by Durban businessman for defamation.
The controversial book 'Gangster State: Unravelling Ace Magashule’s Web of Capture' alleges that Vikash Narsai was involved in a R220m housing project near the Free State town of Vrede, where only 200 houses were built.
Myburgh says it’s difficult for him to comment on the merits of the case.
"We, that being myself and Penguin Random House Publisher, are defending the matter through our attorneys and we can't comment on the merits of the case since it is now the subject of a legal dispute."
The explosive book details nearly a decade of alleged corruption by African National Congress (ANC) secretary-general Ace Magashule in the Free State.
