Gardener arrested for KZN murder

KwaZulu-Natal police have arrested a 67-year-old gardener in connection with the murder of Nadarajan Nayager, 65.
Nayager was found dead at his home at Orient Drive, Isipingo, on Wednesday, spokesman Major Thulani Zwane said.
“His hands were tied and [he] had multiple injuries on his body. The motive for the killing is still unknown at this stage,” he said.
A case of murder was opened at the Isipingo police station and after an intensive investigation it was established that Nayager had an argument with his gardener, “who tied him up and assaulted him to death before fleeing the scene with [the] deceased[‘s] cellphone”.
Officers traced the gardener to the Malakazi area, near Isipingo, and he was arrested for murder. The stolen cellphone was recovered.
“He was charged accordingly and will appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday 18 January 2016,” Zwane said.
