Gauteng adds more Covid-19 active cases

The number of active Covid-19 cases continue to grow in Gauteng, South Africa’s economic hub.

In less than seven days, the number of active cases in the province has increased from 4 361 to 7 679.  

 

Government has also expressed its concern over the situation in the Free State, where active coronavirus infections rose from 4 116 to 5 811

 

KwaZulu-Natal, which had the largest active cases, has seen a drop in cases from 5 541 to 4 724.

 

In his latest report released on Monday evening, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize says there were another 1 757 new Covid-19 cases reported across the country.

 

"As of today [Monday] the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases identified in South Africa is 1 615 485, and the number of tests conducted to date is 11 134 553," says the minister. 

 

Mkhize reveals 50 people lost their lives due to Covid-19 complications.
