Gauteng doctors not paid for overtime
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
Many doctors working in state hospitals in Gauteng are not being paid for overtime due to the financial woes at the department of health.

The financial crisis has led to auditors requesting that payments, other than salaries, be re-authorized.
According to Gauteng provincial spokesperson Khutso Rabothata the doctors were requested to resubmit their claims as "the action was necessary to authorise expenditure".
"Towards the end of the financial year, the Gauteng Department of Health is in a process of tightening internal controls in the payments to employees that were not of a salary nature."
It's unclear how many doctors are affected but the Democratic Alliance's (DA) Jack Bloom alleges that state doctors from Tembisa, Leratong and Yusuf Dadoo and the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospitals were either not paid or short-paid.
Earlier this year the department's assets were attached by sheriff of the court due to the non-payment of service providers.
