Gauteng Education seeking legal advice on reinstatement of Parktown Boys’ principal
Updated | By Gaopalelwe Phalaetsile
The Gauteng Department of Education will seek legal advice on the decision by the Education Labour Relations Council to reinstate Malcolm Williams as principle of Parktown Boys’ High School.

Williams was sacked in December 2020 after the death of Enoch Mpianzi, a 13-year-old boy who drowned at the Crocodile river during a school trip.
The council has instructed the department to reinstate him to his position and pay him back his salary that he did not receive during the time he was fired.

The department's spokesperson Steve Mabona says they are disappointed in the decision.
"We are disappointed as the department, we will be interacting with our legal team to provide expert advice on what we can do. The MEC has also echoed his disappointment but also said that this matter has been dragging for a long time affecting all those who are impacted by the incident.”
Williams is expected back at work on July 1.
