Phase 1 of the online applications comes to a close next week Friday, 3 September.

The Gauteng Education department opened its two-phased admission process over a month ago with the first phase geared towards parents and guardians whose children are currently in Grade 7 at public schools.

The department’s spokesperson Steve Mabona says close to 250 000 applications have been logged on the system.

“We urge parents and guardians who had already applied to remember they have 7 days to upload the required documents online or submit them at the school(s) they applied to.”

Phase Two applications will open on 13 September for parents and guardians of children going to Grade 1 and Grade 8 in 2022, but are not in a public school in Gauteng.

This phase will close almost a month later on 8 October.

“We have noted that some parents and guardians need to be reminded that the application stages also include the submission of the requested documents to the selected schools on time,” Mabona adds.

“To avoid disappointment, we remind parents and guardians to furnish the schools they applied to with the documents as soon as possible.”
